May Update!!

We are really moving now!!! To start off our site we have been given a huge opportunity to photograph, scan, and look through the very extensive collection of Tom W. As you can imagine, this is going to be a huge undertaking. We have started sorting and have even gotten a couple of posts up so far. Along with some other submissions this is going to give us a great kick off. We are working on more avenues of memorabilia, historical information and stories. Additionally we will be working on the overall organization of the site too so that it is easier to find the things that interest you.

If you would like to submit information, stories or pictures please feel free to email our page at CampTrimountHistory@gmail.com

Thank you and keep visiting. There are many new pages on the way and addition to the posts already up.

Staff Plaques

Of course the dinning hall would be bare if not for all of the decorative staff plaques that adorn its walls. Here are some that we have so far...... Do you have pics or stories regarding some of the many staff plaques? Feel free to submit them so they can be shared. CampTrimountHistory@gmail.com

The Halfmoon Lodge 28 has supported Camp Trimount throughout its history. From annual service to building new buildings, the lodge's support of camp can be seen in every corner of Trimount. Below are some examples of Halfmoon Lodges many patches and other artifacts from over the years. Many more pics to come. Thank you to Tom W. for allowing us to photograph his very extensive collection.

Memorials at Camp Trimount

Anyone that has ever visited camp has noticed that a great many buildings are dedicated in memorial of loved ones, past scouts and scouters as well as community leaders. This section will compile many of those buildings. If you have information and/or pictures that you would like to share in this post, feel free to email us. CampTrimountHistory@gmail.com

On or about July 12, 1994, then Camp Director Tony Forte called all scouts, scouters and staff at Camp Trimount to a special flag formation. At that time Mr. Forte, announced the passing of Troop 33 Eagle Scout Mark Koteek. This somber moment was marked with the lowering of the colors to half staff in remembrance. Two years later during the 50th Anniversary Celebration at camp a climbing tower was dedicated in Mark Koteek's honor. That tower served camp into the 2000's when the tower was taken down after a new tower was erected at the new COPE course.

History of Camp Trimount

Purchased in 1946, Camp Trimount has had a very long history. Below is an excerpt from the Camp Trimount 50th Anniversary Journal. We thought this was cool, so we are putting this up now. More will be added to this post later.

Welcome & About this site

Welcome to our site. We are a small group of people from several generations who are sharing the history, stories and memorabilia of a place that we have enjoyed for a large part of our lives.
In talking about the rich history of Camp Trimount, it has always seems like you come across stories that you haven't heard yet or history that you never knew. So the idea came about to make an online repository of history and stories of Camp Trimount from the people that lived it. Whether your story is recent or a "million years ago" feel free to submit it for sharing so that everyone may enjoy. Some of us may be too far to pull a seat up to the campfire to hear these stories and others may not be able to for other reasons. This is everyone's opportunity to hear these stories and history as well as a way to archive them for future generations.
You may submit your historical article or story to: CampTrimountHistory@gmail.com
RULES FOR SHARING:
This is a moderated site so that it doesn't turn into a free for all. But we only have a couple of rules.
1: Please submit any story you wish, but lets keep it "Disney Rated". Young ones and families visit this site.
2: When you email in your story, please indicate what credit you want given in the post. It can be your full name, unit, etc. or it could just be a first name, nickname or initials.
3: Pictures are welcome and we will upload them in your story.
4: Stay positive. We know that there is negativity out there, some may be warranted and some may not. This is not the forum for that.
RULES FOR COMMENTING:
1: BE NICE, BE POSITIVE, and BE OPEN TO EVERYONE'S EXPERIENCES. We don't think there is much else to say other than that. Again, this blog is moderated and the commenting rules will be enforced.
